Apple's VP of health spends 17 minutes with Rene Ritchie (video)

"If you zoom out into the future and look back and ask 'what will be Apple's greatest contribution to mankind?' It will be about health." -- Tim Cook

From Ritchie's "Apple VP of Health Speaks!" posted Monday. Cue the video:

Sumbul Desai, MD, Vice President of Health at Apple, joins me during Heart Month to talk about Apple's journey into health, how they design and validate new health features, making health features user and medical professional friends, and balancing family, caregivers, and privacy

My take: No other tech company in the world has a VP of Health with this kind of top-down support.

If you look at it financially, I don’t think what we have seen is even the tip of the iceberg.

@PED: This video is both inspiring regarding Apple’s efforts and quite informative about the processes involved in developing health-related solutions. Thank you for sharing the video on the blog!

Inspiring. One area, ‘studies’ deserves more.

Clinical trial cost drug developers startups and big pharma, $70B annually. This hurts ROI. Most processes require in-person visits causing delays and drop-outs, which are major cost drivers. Apple can help with remote health, ensuring privacy.

    Personal story:

We were the Galapagos last month and caught Omicron. The small remote town had very sketchy data and rudimentary health services (all no-fee). My wife, 82 years old, has the new Watch with the Blood Oxygen sensors, We used it several times a day – thankfully all OK.
