Apple Korea had good year

From Business Standard’s “Apple’s 2021 sales in South Korea soar 24% to top $5.97 billion” posted Thursday:

Apple Korea’s sales jumped 24 per cent on-year to hit $5.97 billion last year, a new data showed on Thursday.

The South Korean unit of US tech giant Apple — Apple Korea Ltd.– logged 7.1 trillion won ($5.97 billion) in sales from October 1, 2020 to September 30 last year, according to its audit report filings.

Net income for the cited period stood at 124.3 billion won, down slightly from a net profit of 127.4 billion won the previous year.

My take: Much love for Apple products in Samsung’s back yard.

    Thank you, Korea! 🙂

We started watching KDramas after Covid and recently subscribed to Rakuten Viki for more, via an AppleTV subscription.

  2. Median annual income in South Korea is $12,500 US dollars or 14.8 million Korean won. It’s impressive so many spend so much on Apple products & services. I know for certain money sent home to family from Koreans living overseas, mostly in the US & Canada, is how many in Korea survive. My Korean friends remit significant sums to parents in Seoul each month. They all carry an iPhone.

Thomas: Apple’s global growth will be influenced by the pace at which more the world’s population enter the global middle class. Apple products are aspirational purchases for hundreds of millions of people around the world. Good news for the global economy is good news for Apple.
