PED: It’s a 1:16 minute tape. Only so many hours in the day. Can you tell us where to cut in to get that segment? Thanks!

Why would anyone pay attention to Kara? I’m serious and curious as to what she brings.

    • As a journalist, i respect her knowledge of the business and her no-nonsense interview style. She’s not terribly fond of me.

      @ Fred Stein —

While her tenaciousness isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, Swisher brings to the table an indisputable breadth of understanding and comprehension involved with the brain mindset of most of established big tech — and the upcoming around-the-corner tech — with her probing get-to-the-issue style of interviewing and reporting.

From all that I’ve followed, most in tech seem to trust her as she always gets the “big fish” and they tend to open up (as much as they should allow themselves) in her presence.

She’s feisty, but fair — yet not feared because of her respected sway in the media.

Swisher & Galloway make a good team. Galloway gets FB accurately, predicting the company’s stock valuation to be where it is at an all time high & predicting that no matter the regulatory scrutiny the company undergoes nobody seems to care & will care in the end. He recognizes poignantly that FB knows Apple owns the rails and so to circumvent that obstacle to access high dollar premium clients FB has 10,000 employees working on finding a way to circumvent Apple’s platform altogether, perhaps building its own phone through buying its own handset division. FB knows it needs some portal to circumvent Apple’s platform control. Galloway also understands fully that FB takes your data & doesn’t protect it at all; since as we speak tens of millions of FB users’ data is being sold over the dark web. Galloway gets FB!

Swisher gets Apple! She understands explicitly that TC believes deeply that the basic question (or issue) that gets at the core of the controversy is people having the capability to do with their personal data as they so desire, the epitome of how a social media company should operate through democratization of that social platform. So, should the user have the freedom & flexibility to do what the user wants with his/her data? Cook says definitely. I surmise that Cook sees user privacy as an entitlement. Zuckerberg thinks not!
