Apple Stores reopen with masks, 2 meters and a gun

Apple will begin opening stores in the U.S. next week, starting in Idaho, South Carolina, Alabama and Alaska.

Apple retail covid ageFrom Business Insider’s “Apple has started reopening some stores, and precautions like temperature checks could be a sign of what shopping will look like after the pandemic

Given Apple’s vast resources, its reputation as a retail visionary, and the close eye it’s kept on the coronavirus since it first emerged in China, the company’s actions could provide a look at what’s to come when retailers in the United States eventually begin to reopen.

“They have set the pace for the market,” Leslie Hand, vice president of the International Data Corporation’s Retail Insights, said, referring to Apple. “I think as we go forward, other retailers will look to make sure they’re in the same place.”

In Apple Stores that are open [in South Korea, Austria, and Australia], the company is asking that patrons maintain social distancing of two meters, wear face coverings while in the store, and consent to temperature checks. Because of the social distancing rules, fewer customers will be able to fit in an Apple Store at a given time, meaning there may sometimes be a wait to get into the store.

My take: Welcome to retail in the age of COVID. There will be lines.

Stupid continuation of a government sponsored over reaction.

Apple stores will now look like Microsoft stores with limited patrons.
Hopefully not the same customer explosiveness as other retailers!
(Not Apple customers. They’re all nice and understanding! :))

This country has over reached and continues to over reach in dealing with COVID-19.

This country has used non appropriate methods for dealing with COVID-19, such as shutting the nation’s entire economy down, to deal with what initially we were warned would be the apocalypse.

Human livelihoods have been destroyed. Relationships shattered. Spouses and children subjected to physical abuse.

Many unemployed isolated workers trapped in quarantined quarters have become victims of alcohol abuse, over eating, putting themselves more at risks of life threatening habits.

Needed medical examinations have been postponed putting others’ lives in jeopardy while hospitals in many parts of the country stood with empty beds and doctors’ offices boarded-up.

Apple has spent billions of dollars in developing its stores. Apple’s stores lead the retail industry in terms of the money they generate per square foot. Why? Because Apple stores are where “villages of people” meet up and spend time attending sessions, conferences and community events.

Steve Jobs wanted Apple stores to become “town squares” where people naturally meet to hang out together to become creative.

If the format described above is the look to come in the Apple stores of the future when I and my family head to one, then I say tear them all down and save billions. The stores have lost their purpose.

The format described above is as asinine as seeing people driving the streets in their cars wearing masks on their faces, I guess to protect themselves from themselves while driving their cars.

Generally speaking, governments/people under react then over react. That is SOP
throughout even the best of times. Uncertainty and doubt are always a factor, even in the best of times.

Now, with Covid-19 is no exception. Most of us have never experienced anything like it. Therefore FUD is unprecedented. People aren’t generally stupid but FUD brings out the worst of us.

Now is a good time to counter and help ourselves by being kind.
