Apple as Trump impeachment counter-programming (video)

The news window is scheduled to open at 2:20 Eastern and close at 4:45.

From Bryce Newberry for Austin’s KVUE News:

As impeachment hearings ramp up in Washington, D.C. tomorrow, President Donald Trump will be in Austin to see an Apple manufacturing plant.

He’s set to land at 1:20 in the afternoon [Central Time] and travel to the Flextronics plant in northwest Austin off of U.S. 183 south of McNeil Drive, where Apple makes Mac Pro computers…

You can expect to see some road closures as the motorcade makes its way through town. We’re also expecting to see some protests near that manufacturing plant. The White House says President Trump will be out of here by 3:45.

Cue the video:

My take: Careful, Tim Cook. Few emerge untarred from Donald Trump’s embrace.

    Do not underestimate the number of folk in the bluebonnet state who love the president. Once these good people are comfortable with you then they will confide that if you believe that Texas is to be ruled by the people, that the poor man is as good as the rich man, that the people have the right to pass on issues themselves, if you believe that Texas is a state where every man is a king but no man wears a crown, then they will let you in on a little secret: they are Trump voters. They are enamored with Trump for leading them and illustrating his many points humanly. They embrace how the president feels the urge to talk in a way as to convince himself and they, by the logic of his own arguments, even though truth may be immaterial. What matters is that the president identifies with them and they identify right back. He never talks down to them. He talks to them. He just levels down and talks his natural way in a language they understand. Trump often speaks colloquially and concocts images with which they identify. The president is successful in his innate ability to captivate his audiences and to charm them and in return they give back publicly and surreptitiously their unfading loyalty. How else can he be a two term president.

    From Apple’s web page september, note 2013;

    “As part of its commitment to US economic growth, Apple today confirmed that its newly redesigned Mac Pro will be manufactured in Austin, Texas. This latest generation Mac Pro, which was unveiled at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference in June, will begin production soon at the same Austin facility where Mac Pro has been made since 2013.”
