Repairs completed

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Apple 3.0 hit a few potholes this week. The site went up and down ten times in two days—starting when John Gruber recommended my Joshua Cohen interview to his Daring Fireball readers. My server handled the usual post-Gruber traffic spike just fine, but not the unbidden guests that arrived shortly afterward.

From my tech guy:

I looked at the apache server logs and the site is being swarmed by bots trying to post to a specific comment url… I refined the firewall rule so that it is more specific. The rule has caught 260,000 requests since this morning.

Two days later:

I adjusted the firewall rules and have the upvotes working again.

Apologies for the bumpy ride. If you see something, say something.

If wireless providers would truly ban robo-callers, my phone would ring 90% less – and I do already have a robo-blocker in place!
