“Project Zero lacked so much context it became a social attack itself.” — Rene Ritchie
From Ritchie’s tweetstorm:
Timeline:
- Google’s Project Zero blogs legit iOS exploit but with no context.
- Story gets re-blogged, people get panicked.
- TechCrunch finds out it was targeted at the Uyghur community in Xinjiang, China.
- Forbes finds out it targeted Android and Windows too.
WTF PZ?

My take: I’m with Ritchie. WTF Project Zero?
What I find most significant are the revelations about Google senior leaders and their lack of ethical personal behavior. Personal behavior bleeds into corporate ethics, and “corporate ethics” is something that has been slowly draining from Google.
“First do no harm”. Only a crook would come up with a slogan like that. Everybody else would assume it.
