It’s a rare quarter when the pros are more bullish than the independents.
Apple will report earnings for the third fiscal quarter of 2017 after the closing bell Tuesday, Aug. 1. What’s the consensus? Take your pick.

Another way of looking at the quarter is through the charts of the crowdsourcing site Estimize.com, which had gathered, by Friday morning, the estimates of 514 armchair Apple analysts.
Why are the revenue numbers from my panel of 19 Pros higher than both the Estimize 514 and the Indie 7? My theory: There’s been some turnover on the Apple beat over the years, and a lot fresh faces on Wall Street. Most of the indies who are still in the game, by comparison, are grizzled veterans.
