Apple: WWDC ’16 by the numbers (video)

Apple loves to trot out big round numbers at its developers conference.

It’s a good thing, too. For many categories, these are the only data points we get from the company. From Monday’s WWDC 2016 keynote:

  • 2 million apps in the Apple App Store
  • 130 billion app downloads
  • 13 million developers building apps
  • 2 million developers added since last year
  • $50 billion paid to developers since App Store debut
  • $10 billion paid out in the last six months
  • 15 million Apple Music subscribers
  • 1,300 video channels for tvOS
  • 650,000 movies and TV episodes on Apple TV
  • 6,000 apps on the tvOS App Store
  • 10 billion documents stored by Apple in iCloud Drive
  • 2 billion requests made to Siri
  • 2,000 news outlets in Apple News
  • 60 million monthly active users who read news from Apple News
  • 100,000 apps that use Swift code
