Disclosure: Although I am now an Apple shareholder (see Why I bought a share of Apple, my first), I am in no position to give trading advice. Don’t blame me if you drain your IRA doing something you read about here.

Among my favorite Warren Buffett quotes is, “If you aren’t thinking about owning a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes.” If one does their homework (research) and is looking out ten years, what happens in the next ten minutes, ten days or ten months really shouldn’t be a concern.

I am almost positive that about six to eight weeks ago when Apple had bottomed that Ms. Melissa interviewed Carter Worth who prognosticated from his charts continued decline was in order for Apple. So much for “that” forecast. If one had listened seriously to Mr. Worth and sold Apple, then the seller would have sold at substantial loss and worse, failed to recover 32% in a short 6-8 week span.

I do not understand folk who rely on charts for investment decisions. Instead, they should study the company’s operations, management, leadership, administration, products and services and through in-depth analyses arrive at a much better investment decision.

@Jerry: That’s probably the nicest explanation I’ve read to establish that the opinion of Carter Worth isn’t worth much. Kudos on your kindness and gentle approach to this “chartist” and his technical analysis approach to Apple using graphs.

BTW, how are the “Geaux Tigers” looking this year in the West? They’re writing that Bama is loaded once again.

It has kept me from ever selling any of my shares or AAPL

Using equities to make short term profits is insane. The returns are dismal.

Short term demands options. The cost to control the same number of shares is a tiny fraction of trading shares.

Far less capital at risk with far larger ROI potential.
