Friday’s tornadoes, Amazon’s warehouse, Apple’s relief (videos)

From Reuters’ “Six dead, no hope of more survivors after tornadoes destroy Amazon warehouse” updated Sunday morning:

Six Amazon workers were confirmed dead on Saturday after a series of tornadoes roared through a warehouse near St. Louis, ripping off its roof and causing 11-inch thick concrete walls longer than football fields to collapse on themselves.

From “Video shows tornado in Edwardsville, Illinois” (42 seconds)

From “Several killed when tornado damages Amazon warehouse in Illinois” (2:10 minutes)

My take: Steve Jobs was famously stingy with charity. Tim Cook thinks different. This year’s Apple donations include relief efforts after floods in Western Europe and losses from Hurricane Ida in Louisiana and Mississippi. All this comes on top of Apple’s ongoing $100 million Racial Equity and Justice Initiative.

I feel badly for what those folk are going through after those devastating storms. As a veteran of hurricanes and tornados I can say unequivocally that tornados worry me the most. Hurricanes you can prepare for well in advance and if one loses his/her life it often can be attributed to not evacuating timely or preparing adequately in advance. Conversely, tornados often pop up quickly with little to no warning and few in delta marshes have underground cellars. There hardly is no place to escape. Tornados come seemingly from out of nowhere. I’m so sadden for those good folk and their families, but like Ms. Kathy C, I am proud and grateful of Tim Cook and Apple for recognizing these good folk in their hour of need. 1 John 3:17-18.

Apple providing donations for disaster relief is another reason why we own Apple stock, they do what is right and needed. Tim Cook empathizes with those affected by disaster that no one can control.

    Proud to own Apple.
