Hint: It has nothing to do with the quality of the Pixel 6 phones.
From “Is Google’s new Pixel 6 smartphone an iPhone killer?” which aired Tuesday on CNBC:
My take: iPhone killer? Really? I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of any smartphone maker trying to compete with the iPhone.

Fixed the headline for you.
iPhone now provides more for less $$s just at the HW spec level, let alone all the other benefits: better integrated device, better integrated ecosystem, first device for (nearly) all Apps, better resale value, easier to update to latest software, better safety (aka security and privacy).
I just compared the Galaxy flip to iPhone 13 since they have comparable cameras: Galaxy flip: $1,199 vs iPhone 13 w/ 256G: $899. I’ll bet Samsung will lower the flip price soon and the resale value will drop like a rock. The resale value of last year’s Galaxy fold dropped from $1,999, new, to about $900 in one year.
Oh, Samsung’s flip phone won’t see a price reduction, it’ll be discontinued before that happens, there just isn’t the demand to support continued development/production.
Whether Samsung cuts prices to move unsold inventory, subsidizes sales to get the product out and seen, or eventually calls it quits is still unknown, but they do seem committed to Foldables in the short term. However, if Samsung changes Presidents and CEO’s per their usual rotations (every 1-2 years), a new President or CEO could have different ideas of where to concentrate smartphone resources. IMO so far they have had a spaghetti style of product and feature development – throw a lot on the walls and see what sticks.
Same applies to Samsung’s smartphone marketing efforts, seems very disjointed to me plus a huge proliferation of different models for different regions is a marketing and management nightmare but then again, they are a heavily inbred hardware company so most things to them look like widgets.
