It is not a new product, said the host of CBS This Morning. “Don’t get everybody excited.”
My take: Who the hell knows? Cook made several topical remarks about “holding people accountable” and nobody being “above the law” during a previously scheduled promotional interview. CBS grabbed the soundbites and left a teaser.
UPDATE Here’s the video:
Less likely, but still possible, is a beta Apple Car for later this year. The early rumors out of Taiwan seemed to indicate something this year, while more recent rumors suggest many years from now. Perhaps the truth is in the middle. A glimpse into the future is very un-Apple, but Tim Cook there’s always value in building excitement and this certainly would do that.
Least likely, but also possible, is that they’re restructuring App Store fees to appease the new administration. I think I’ve now covered all the bases. Lol.
Nice news find PED.
1. Large acquisition or partnership
2. Big personnel hire
3. Significant change to App store policies
4. New Service (not a product)
5. COVID-19 related feature add
6. Tim Cook handoff to Jeff Williams
7. Plans to manufacture in U.S.
Start popping the popcorn.
I have the utmost respect for him and don’t disagree with the stance he takes on many of the existential, political and economic views of the day but power and persuasiveness is sometimes best wielded discretely – unless he wants to run for office next, of course.
Colour me uncomfortable with his increasing forays into areas outside of his mandate. Just a gut feeling.
all big tech were visited by fbi i guess.
Maybe Tim Cook should run USA
US of Apple
“US of Apple”
Got a chuckle from me. Good one!
Don’t know about your tinfoil hat, but Apple would probably give out any information they possess at the request of law enforcement, and properly so. The whole deal on password protection is that Apple can’t give law enforcement what it doesn’t have – i.e., a backdoor into Apple customer’s devices. And Apple has steadfastly refused to create such a backdoor.
Doug: It’s weird, but I can no longer find your post. I’m assuming you chose to have it deleted….
I’m not sure how your response pertains to my remark.
It would also blow everybody’s minds if Apple offered a $xx Apple gift card or voucher with each vaccination regardless of what brand or type of device you already own as an incentive. What a pump primer that would be.
This brief “interview” with Mr. Cook was clearly a PR heads-up, so the media will pay closer attention Wednesday.
MY BET:
Apple officially announces their new privacy policy – updating ALL their operating systems to make opting IN instead of opting Out the default – for ALL data sharing with third party apps and software. Browsers, apps, everything – especially as it pertains to social media like Facebook.
