Ming-Chi Kuo: MacBooks with new keyboards from Apple by June

Production will improve significantly in late March despite the pandemic, says the rumor sites’ favorite analyst.

From MacRumors Thursday:

Apple plans to release new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models with scissor keyboards in the second quarter of 2020, according to a new research note today from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, obtained by MacRumors.

Kuo did not comment on the size of the new MacBook Pro, but he is possibly referring to the 14-inch model that he has previously mentioned given that the 16-inch MacBook Pro was only released four months ago. The new 14-inch model would likely replace the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which would be discontinued…

As for the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Kuo believes that operations at MacBook-related suppliers will improve significantly starting in late March, paving the way for mass production of the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models.

If this information proves to be accurate, then Apple’s entire notebook lineup should feature scissor keyboards by the end of 2020.

My take: My MacBook Air came back from the shop Wednesday with a new butterfly keyboard. I’m hoping the space bar doesn’t start sticking again before I can sell it and buy the new MacBook Air that Kuo is talking about, the one with the scissor keyboard.

Off topic: I see further down. For everything.

I sold a smallish chunk at $255 toward the end of the day. A leisurely 18 minutes later, it was down $-8 from that.

Those people lucky enough to wait on the sidelines for 6-9 months should be OK.
I don’t think the recovery is going to be as speedy as some think, because I think this event has the potential to fundamentally change the world-wide economic scene for quite a few months.

    What a day…
