Apple’s TV box score: What the critics are saying

From Dan Gallagher’s “Apple’s Might-See TV” ($) in Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal:

The bad news for Apple is that its expensive new TV shows don’t exactly seem like a hit with critics. The good news is that it might not really matter.

My take: Apple TV’s critics figure they’ll attract more flies with vinegar than with honey. Not unlike Wall Street Journal reporters.

Personal note: I may be out of pocket for a couple of days. Getting a new left knee Tuesday to go with the new right hip I got in January.

The highest critically reviewed program (The Watchman) also got the lowest viewer response. Of the nine programs, all but two were liked by viewers more than by the critics.

Clearly, the critics are using a different standard by which they critique movies, etc. than do the people that watch them, a lot like WS forecasts of Apple/AAPL

Can we, should we, trust the “Pros” to guide us?

And personally I think Watchmen is getting really interesting, though initially I was quite skeptical. What original show is amazing out of the gate, but also continues to amaze throughout the rest of the season? Most are slow burns, because that’s how typical storytelling works.
