Way off topic: Tuesday’s primary results

In a race for two open seats on the Greenfield, MA (pop. 17,000) city council, yours truly came in second.

elmer city council greenfieldPuts me in good shape for the Nov. 5 election. Chris Forgey was Greenfield’s first mayor; I was the newcomer.

My take: “Elmer like the glue” worked. That and the 200 Elmer’s Washable Glue Sticks handed out at parades and yard sales. Kinda stuck in voter’s minds.

    Philip, congrats on your primary results. My mother’s family came from Greenfield, Springfield, and Shelburne Falls. You’ll do ’em proud.

    Congratulations on your results! I love your proposal for economic growth in Greenfield (practical and realizable), pointing out that wired homes and farms for the new industrial strength internet and broadband telecommunications networks will bring people and business to the area, just as the expansion of rural electrification services did so much to improve the quality of life for farmers and rural communities in the 1930’s.
    Greenfield, “The Friendliest Little City on the Information Highway” could serve as a model for towns across America, and hopefully Canada too.

    Congratulations PED!

    @katherine anderson: Excellent comments.

    PED, “Elmer like the glue” most likely worked, but in the home stretch I suggest “The Friendliest Little City on the Information Highway!” That’s an attention grabbing phrase promoting a political position toward a needed community goal.

    Wishing you and your community the very best!
