Pardon me if I find the comments more interesting than the story.
teknikal90 This could all be avoided if apple instead put in higher quality battery cells (apple watch’s battery life is 1000 cycles), or if they make it easier to replace the batteries.
keysofanxiety Hate to urinate in your chips, but battery technology is consistent between all manufacturers and it sucks.
NemWan Taxpayers should sue NASA because they’ve been turning off features we paid for on the Voyager space probes as the power level drops because of the plutonium decay.
Mikethemartian But Voyager 2 is going to get a very big upgrade once it reaches the machine planet.
Gmgravytrain I feel I must also file a third lawsuit against Apple. My agonizingly slow iPhone is ruining my business and my marriage. I’m not sure if $10M will be enough to ease my pain and suffering. Oh, the humanity. Apple might as well turn over all that repatriated cash to me and my lawyer. Oh, no… I feel a definite mood swing coming on. Where did I put my Glock? No tech company is going to throttle my trigger finger. /s
dws-2 In another universe, someone is suing Apple because their devices suddenly shut down. In another universe, someone is suing battery manufacturers because the batteries lose charge over time. And in a another universe (far, far, far away), no one is suing anyone about this because they realize that everything is trying to make the best product possible.
Rayz2016 Good point, but there is no universe where no one is suing Apple.
spacekid What’s not clear is, does Apple detect that a battery is having issues and slows it down, or does Apple slow all phones that have older batteries even if they aren’t having any issues.
