Incredible. Thanks for posting this PED.

Am I right that the current Apple Watch won’t make calls without the iPhone nearby. How far away might it be and still work? Could it be in the truck or does it have to be in his pocket on on his person?

My understanding is that as long as both devices are on the same network, they will work. So, if your company has a building-wide network, you can lock your iPhone in your desk, or your locker, and work wearing your AppleWatch, and you will receive all your notifications, calls, etc. from your watch without actually carrying your iPhone around.

Just looked at the video, presumably, his iPhone is in the cab of the truck, and he’s close enough to be able to use his Watch to make a call.

How close to communicate between the phone and watch, I’m guessing 30 ft, bluetooth range.

I use it, version 2. I often find I have to answer around the house because I don’t have my phone with me. It works well within about 5-8 meters, but not so well between floors, we have floating ceilings using steel strips. The major issue that pushes me to carry my AirPods is the sound quality, I can be heard very well, but it’s difficult to hear given the tiny speaker
