Apple: The first practical ARKit app I’ve seen (video)

Beyond Pokémon Go.

AR Measure looks like augmented reality I might use around the house.

Available for ARKit-ready iPhones with the release of iOS 11 this fall. Pre-order it from AR Measure.

Why now? Because I must have been otherwise occupied last January when laanlabs posted their demo on YouTube to an idiot’s chorus of dick jokes. I first saw the video Monday when CNBC picked it up. See Apple’s next iPhone might kill the tape measure.

Sadly, I just confirmed that my 6S Plus is AR-Kit ready, so that’s one great reason (excuse) to upgrade down the tubes.

Oh well, I’m sure there will be many more reasons to upgrade come September.

As an added incentive, my wife is kind enough to be tiring of her iPhone 4 and has been making comments about needing a newer, bigger iPhone. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to make that happen before the end of the year lest she become impatient. Ah, the things we have to do to maintain marital bliss!

      P.S. “… to an idiot’s chorus …”

I like that. Very succinct, yet it is clear who you mean and what smartphone operating system they might be fans of.
