Some people are impossible to satisfy, and anyone who would go to the length of smashing property may be one of those difficult people. Just because he warns someone, gives him the “right” to follow through with his threat? So, if he warns someone he’s going to kill them, then he has the “right” later to do it? Yep, totally logical.

I suppose someone warned him that if he followed through with his threat that he’d be arrested and he’d have to pay for all the damages. That’s their “right” too.

I think the store personnel handled this perfectly. Interacting with him puts them in danger and whether or not they’ll get reimbursed for the damage, an employee getting hurt isn’t worth it. Had he been threatening people that would probably have brought out a quick physical response.

It does seem that the police (not the mall security) were taking a very long time to arrive. Had he had a gun he could have done some serious damage by the time someone stopped him.

I hope someone keeps tabs on this and reports on it. I’d love to hear about what happens to this guy. I think he was lucky that everyone around him showed such restraint. Acting that crazy while carrying a knapsack in France right now? He’s lucky someone didn’t disable him very quickly simply out of fear.

On second thought maybe this is less scary if you speak French. I just see a man coming unglued. It is unclear to me when he makes his case that he has the right to do what he did.
