Here’s one thing Tile can do that Apple’s AirTag can’t

A long press on a Tile will ring your iPhone if it’s close by. There’s no button on the AirTag.

From Tile Support > How Tile Works:

You can use your Tile to find your phone — even if it’s on silent mode!

    1. First, make sure that the Tile app is running in the background of your phone, and that your phone is in range of your Tiles.
    2. Next, quickly double press the Tile button to make your phone ring.
    3. You’ll see a notification on the lock screen of your mobile device, letting you know which Tile you rang your device from.

My take: You can do the same with your Apple Watch, but not everybody here wears one. Hanging on to my family’s Tiles, for now.

Note for the (Luddite) members who still refuse to wear the watch: Siri on HomePod finds my phone quite effectively anywhere in my home on request.

Ha Ha!! Didn’t know my HomePod could do this. Geez, there’s always something new to find out about Apple products, even when you think you know it all. BTW, as a non-Luddite member, I do routinely use my Apple watch for this.

…and — unlike the Tile — AirTag will guide you to its exact location.

(Seems a bit more worthy to me. Jus’ sayin’.)

One comment on the lack of some sort of hole on the AirTag as many expected there would be, a la Tile.

Initially I was puzzled too, but after thinking about it a bit more, it started to make complete sense.

As we all know, Apple’s inborn design purity is an aspiration that sometimes can manifest itself as soft as a whisper to the end consumer, yet reward in unique ways.

By restricting its shape to a simple curved circle, it does not dictate its placement, attachment or application. It simply serves its purpose (quite efficiently and elegantly) by just being.

What YOU do with it and how (again — placement, attachment or application) becomes bespoke to you.

Much like the  WATCH has accomplished before it, a myriad of choices now become available to “make it you”.

    Call it fun.

A soft whisper of why Apple products have become beloved the world over.
