    I’m with Greg on this.

First: No mention of games, where the image processing, LiDAR, and 5G matter.

Bigger point: Apple is NOT at the mercy of carrier 5G, because the photography and gaming excellence will drive purchases. It’s just the opposite. iPhone 12 will push carriers to invest more into 5G. We already see carriers competing with each other on purchase plans and buybacks to get/keep these iPhone customers.

I disagree with him totally about battery life. Apple has great statistics. They know how people drain their batteries or not. I guess Gruber is dealing with a small sample size of pundits like himself who use their phones more than most. If battery life is an issue then just get a battery pack. Problem solved.

In my circles I don’t know anyone who has an issue with this. Personally my iPhone battery is around 70% at the end of the day. I realize this is a different small cohort.

Similarly with storage. Gruber’s hobby horse has been storage. For many people I agree with him. But for our corporate phones we didn’t need much storage. We did email, calling and texting and we’d take a few photos such as serial numbers of instruments. Again, I think Apple has a much better handle on what is needed. To that end I’m always interested to see what they talk about in the new phones as that is a tell as to what they know about the market.

Some pundit complained that Apple wasn’t trying to upsell people to the larger pro phone. Maybe they are indirectly, maybe regular guys buy the pro Max just like they used to buy high end Canons and Nikons even though they would just set them to auto and use them like a cheaper point and shoot camera. Apple says this iPhone is meant for pros which might make them more appealing to regular people. For a few hundred extra dollars you can become a pro! I’m not a marketing guy but I worked with them. I love the intricacies of how people decide to purchase something.

That’s how Apple appeals to people to buy things.
      And I think it works.

I carry a 60K maH pack. Worked out great during just completed round trip to VA It kept both mine and my daughter’s iPad and iPhones charged for 2+ days (motel recharges when needed). There was no USB connector in the brand new 26’ U-Haul truck (where’d my daughter get all this stuff?).
