Apple: Doomed and soulless

Apple is damned if it engineers huge launch events, damned if it doesn’t.

From Chris (Technically Incorrect) Matyszczyk’s “Apple just had a huge, soulless new product launch,” posted Monday on ZDNet:

apple card soulless product launchThey used to line up days in advance for Apple product launches. They used to pitch tents and then pay strangers to keep their place. Now, they just put their names down on a list and wait for an email. Perhaps it’s a reflection of how the world has changed. Perhaps, too, it’s a reflection of how Apple has changed.

Last week, Apple launched a product that just might make it a lot of money. But where was the elation and ululation? Where were the lines and triumphant first purchasers, holding their product aloft as if they’d just won a division title?

My take: Apple nearly eliminated the lines after they were hacked by Chinese smugglers.

Apple Card hasn’t launched to the masses yet. I’ve yet to receive the notification email.

Just got the email today. It takes less than a MINUTE to be approved. Titanium card ordered, too. Typical Apple … hassle-free, secure and convenient.

WS doesn’t think much of Matyszczyk’s “soulless” hypothesis. The DOW (of which AAPL is a major component) is down $294.00 (1.12%) while AAPL is up $0.25 (0.12%).
